Brooklands Museum

places to go

We were up against the weather when we arrived at the museum, which whilst most of the exhibitions are in various hangars, the museum is spread out over a large area.

As the final resting place for one of the Concordes and various other large planes, it is a treasure trove of vehicles including motorbikes, sports cars and World War Two fighter planes.

a local park

Having visited most of the local parks in the area, we finally found probably the best park to visit on a sunny day. Consisting of a sunken pirate ship and a series of tree houses, in addition to the usual slide, swings and rockers, the park is based in a large green area and centres around a large sandpit area.

With a working hand pump, water is then channeled into basins and wheels.

box racing car

arts and crafts

Having just moved into the house we had an abundance of strong brown cardboard boxes sitting in the garage. As my youngest sleeps for over an hour a day I needed to do something to amuse H during this time.

Starting off with just one large removal box, we taped up the box so that it was fully enclosed, and then using a box knife, I cut out the circular doors and the seating area. As we wanted to paint the car we needed cover over all of the tape with paper.

Box_Car_20130803To finish off the cardboard box racing car we packed a small box full of paper and cardboard, covered it in coloured paper, and put it in the car as a seat. We also added a dashboard and registration plates.

the flight home

the everyday

Having left the UK in October 2006 with my wife and no children, to work for an international investment company, for a few years, we are finally returning after seven years with two boys in toe.

We were lucky enough to fly business on the A380  from Dubai to London, although the bar area only served as a creche for the boys.

H having his own seat and entertainment system kept him quiet for much of the journey.
